Academic Policy — Page 2
Minimum VSB Requirements
Earning Units. In order to receive the minimum passing grade of 80%,
a student must earn a certain number of “units”. Units are earned for
meeting the minimum required clock hours; completing assigned projects; never refusing
a client; being available as contracted; doing clinic floor assignments or completing
project sheets performed on mannequins, practice hands or fingers; having a good personality;
and showing a positive attitude. Extra units ensure that the student is well-suited to this
field of work and can meet state requirements.
The student shall meet the minimum required units, regardless of hours, for
eligibility to receive a diploma. A grade of 80% will be earned only after unit
requirements are fulfilled. Any additional units earned above clock-hour requirements
may be recognized in some manner, at the discretion of the school. For more information
about earning units, see your instructor, the academic coordinator, or the academic director.
Grading System
Student grading is determined as follows:
Practical Grade: Minimum clock hour requirements met,
additional units earned, with proof initialed and passed by an instructor.
Meeting the minimum clock hour requirements and earning additional units
will guarantee a practical grade of 80%.
Academic Grade: Academic hours in class, examination
scores, clinic operations, and extra units earned will be combined to
make the student's academic grade. Meeting the minimum clock hour requirements
and earning additional units will guarantee a practical grade of 80%.
Practical grades and academic grades will increase when the student attains
perfection. Practice makes perfect.
