Instructor Trainee Curriculum
Instructor Trainee has as its objective the presentation
of the skills necessary to teach barbering, cosmetology, esthetician
and manicuring courses. In order to enroll in this 500-hour cosmetology
course, the applicant must be licensed as a cosmetologist, manicurist,
esthetician or barber in the State of Washington. This course may
be completed in 3-1/2 months @ 40 hours per week and will enable the
graduate to teach in a cosmetology facility. Graduate instructor trainees
must take the Interstate National Cosmetology practical and the NIC
written examination for certification, must pass the exam with a score
of 80% or better, and then will have earned the Washington License.
An instructor trainee may train in manicuring, cosmetology, esthetics
and/or barbering with an applicable license. (An accelerated course
is offered and may be completed in 2–1/2 months. The instructor
trainee student must be available no less than 16 hours a week, able
to work one to two evenings a week, and be available for Saturdays.
Possible instructor trainee career paths include: Instructor, industry rep/educator, salon owner/manager, and retail/wholesale sales.. |
