Barbering entails teaching the art of shampooing, cutting, shaving and styling the hair. Upon completion of 1000 clock hours, approximately 7 months @ 40 hours per week and a passing grade of 80% on the senior board exams the student may then be certified to take the state boards national examination for his/her licensure. This licensure will enable the esthetician to provide service to both men and women. (Accelerated course offered may be complete in 5 months.)

Possible barbering career paths include: Barber, platform artist, industry rep/educator, salon owner/manager, retail/wholesale sales, and instructor.
