Trainee
Instructor Trainee Curriculum
Instructor Trainee has as its
objective the presentation of the skills necessary to teach barbering,
cosmetology, esthetician and manicuring courses. In order to enroll in
this 500-hour cosmetology course, the applicant must be licensed as a
cosmetologist, manicurist, esthetician or barber in the State of Washington.
This course may be completed in 3-1/2 months @ 40 hours per week and will
enable the graduate to teach in a cosmetology facility. Graduate instructor
trainees must take the Interstate National Cosmetology practical and the
NIC written examination for certification, must pass the exam with a score
of 80% or better, and then will have earned the Washington License. An
instructor trainee may train in manicuring, cosmetology, esthetics and/or
barbering with an applicable license. (An accelerated course is offered
and may be completed in 2–1/2 months. The instructor trainee student
must be available no less than 16 hours a week, able to work one to two
evenings a week, and be available for Saturdays.
Possible instructor trainee career paths include: Instructor, industry rep/educator, salon owner/manager,
